GENERAL QUESTIONS

Q. How much do the books cost?
A. Price is determined by the number of books ordered, the number of recipes and any Designer Options you choose. Please see our current Price Chart or call Customer Service at 1-800-227-7282 for additional information.

Q. Is there a discount when using U-Type-It™?
A. Yes! You will save $.25 per book (maximum $300.00) by using our U-Type-It™ Online recipe program.

Q. How long does it take to get the books?
A. Normal production time is 30 to 50 working days for jobs we typeset, or 30 to 35 working days with our U-Type-It™ Online recipe program. Production schedules may be adjusted depending on Designer Options or heavy seasonal demands.

Q. Do you offer a RUSH service at an additional charge for a quicker turnaround time?
A. We do not offer a rush service but will do everything we can to help you achieve your goals. If you need your books in a shorter timeframe than our normal production time, please contact Customer Service at 1-800-227-7282 for assistance.

Q. Do I still need to send copies of our recipes if we use U-Type-It™?
A. No, you do not need to send copies of the recipes when using U-Type-It™. Only the completed Cookbook Order Form, special page information, and any artwork you wish to include needs to be submitted to our office.

Q. Does Cookbook Publishers proof or edit my recipes?
A. We do not proof or edit recipes entered into your U-Type-It™ account. We recommend that you carefully check each recipe for accuracy, including spelling, capitalization, punctuation, and completeness, before submitting your cookbook for printing.

Q. What is the cost for changes or corrections to our recipes when we receive our PDF proof?
A. The first 10 corrections (correcting misspelled words, adding or deleting ingredients, or any other typographical changes) are free. Please contact our Customer Service Professionals at 1-800-227-7282 for proof correction charges.

Q. Will I get to see a proof before my books are printed?
A. Customers using the U-Type-It™ Online recipe software automatically receive a free PDF proof of their recipes. Customers who wish to receive a hard copy proof of the book in its entirety (whether using U-Type-It™ or we typeset your recipes) may choose the Reproof Option at a minimal additional cost.

Q. How do I choose a typestyle for my recipes?
A. You will denote your choice of Recipe Format on the Cookbook Order Form. This will dictate the typestyle.

Q. How do I enter information for our cover and special pages when using U-Type-It™?
A. U-Type-It™ Online is for recipe entry only at this time. Information for your cover and special pages as well as any artwork, ad pages, etc., must be sent to our office along with the completed Cookbook Order Form.

U-Type-It™ ACCOUNT QUESTIONS

Q. I have forgotten my password and cannot log in to my account. What do I do?
A. If you are the Chairperson, go to the Login page and click on "Forgot your login?". You will be directed to a new page to enter your email address and zip code. Be sure to use the same email address and zip code that were used in setting up the account. Type the characters you see in the Validation Code box, and click on "Request Login Information." An email will be sent with your username, password, and account number. If you do not receive an email or need additional assistance, please contact our office by phone at 1-800-227-7282 or Email Support and supply the email address (or account number if available) used when setting up your account. We will supply the information as quickly as possible.

If you are not the Chairperson, please contact your Chairperson for assistance.

Q. How do I change the name of our cookbook from what was entered when setting up our account?
A. The cookbook title can be changed on the account's Home page. After entering the new title, click on Submit Changes at the bottom of the page.

Q. Can I still include a Recipe Note by entering it with the Instructions even if we are not using Recipe Notes?
A. Yes, but be aware that Recipe Notes contained in any part of the recipe are a Designer Option and will be an additional charge. Please see the Price Chart for pricing information or contact our office.

QUESTIONS ABOUT THE U-Type-It™ SOFTWARE

Typing Recipes:

Q. How many Sections (or parts) can a recipe have?
A. U-Type-It™ will accommodate recipes with up to 4 sections (i.e. cake, filling, icing, garnish). If more than 4 sections are required they should be entered as separate recipes.

Q. Am I able to "copy" ingredients or instructions from a recipe and "paste" it into U-Type-It™?
A.  We do not recommend using copy/paste when entering your recipes. While it may take less time than typing the recipe, formatting and special characters are lost during processing of the file resulting in incomplete or missing information when you receive your PDF proof.

Q. How do I add the degree symbol?
A. Use Shift + 6 (^) to create the degree symbol (350^). The caret will be converted to a degree symbol when processed (350°).

Q. Is it okay to include recipes that contain copyrights or trademarks?

A.Technically recipes themselves are not copyrighted, but works of art are. We recommend you not use more than 1 or 2 recipes from any given source to protect yourself from copyright infringement. However, the title Kentucky Derby Pie (or Derby Pie) is copyrighted and should not be used. Wording which is trademarked and cannot be used include Girl Scout, Weight Watchers (and Weight Watchers points), Kibbles 'n Bits, Puppy Chow, Dairy Queen, and Dairy Queen products (i.e. Blizzard, Buster Bar).

Verifying Recipes:

Q. What does it mean to Verify recipes?
A. To Verify means to check the recipe for accuracy. All recipes must be verified before the cookbook can be submitted. Recipe contributors can only Verify their own recipes. The Chairperson has the ability to Verify all recipes in the book. Please verify (proof) your recipes carefully for accuracy and completeness before submitting your cookbook. Changes made at the time of your PDF proof will incur additional charges.

Q. How do I know if a recipe has been Verified?
A. Click on Modify Recipe. A blue checkmark will appear next to the recipe title of Verified recipes.

Q. Can I unverify a recipe?
A. Only the chairperson may unverify a recipe once it has been verified. Chairpersons should contact Customer Service at 1-800-227-7282 for assistance.

Making Changes :

Q. How do I move recipes from one recipe category to another?
A. Click on Modify Recipe, then click on the title of the recipe you wish to move. Now click on the Edit button across from the recipe title. Click on the arrow for the drop-down menu in the box and choose the new category name and click on submit.

Q. How do I change the order of the categories for our cookbook?
A. It is important that the order of the categories be decided when the account is set up. However, if you wish to change the order after the account is set up, first make sure that Custom Dividers has been selected on the Home Page. Click on Edit next to the category you wish to move and rename it. When all categories have been renamed in the order desired, click on Submit Changes. You will now need to Modify each recipe and Edit (with the drop down menu) the category name of each recipe that needs to move to a new category.

Q. Can I change the name of the categories when using U-Type-It™?
A. Yes. Your chairperson may change category titles, create additional categories or add sub-categories by selecting the Custom Dividers option when creating the U-Type-It™ account.

Q. Will you alphabetize my recipes?
A. No. Recipes are printed in the order they are submitted whether we typeset or our U-Type-It™ Online recipe software is utilized. With U-Type-It™ you have the ability to reorder the recipes in each section so they are submitted in the order desired.

Q. How do I change the order of the recipes after they have been entered?
A. Click on Modify Recipe. There will be a numbered box in front of each recipe title. Renumber the recipes in the box, then click on the Reorder button at the bottom of the list.

Submitting Recipes:

Q.  How do I submit my U-Type-It™ Online file?

A.  Once all recipes have been verified, the chairperson will go to the Home Page of your account and click on the button "Submit Cookbook for Printing."  Remember, we must have the completed Cookbook Order Form and all other materials for your book (cover and special page information, recipe format, artwork, etc.) before production can begin. Individuals, family groups and businesses requiring advance payment should send an estimated 1/2 of the invoice amount along with their order.
