The Recipe For A Great Fundraiser • Fundraising Successes

"The quality of the cookbooks is unbelievable! We will definitely recommend Cookbook Publishers to anyone who is planning a cookbook!"
The 501st Battalion |
"An appealing patriotic cover and the desire to support troops and families during deployment led the 501st Forward Support Battalion of Friedburg, Germany to Cookbook Publishers," according to Tracy Anderson, cookbook coordinator.
The 501st Forward Support Battalion, 1st Armored Division provides logistical support operations to over 4,000 soldiers of the Ready First Combat Team. "We wanted a memento to remember the soldiers and families in this great battalion," Tracy added. "The experience of creating this book with Cookbook Publishers has been spectacular!"
Originally constituted in 1924, the 501st Support Battalion's locations, activations, and redesignations reflect the nation's military history. From Fort Knox to Fort Hood to Fort Polk, the 501st has been home based at Friedburg, Germany since 1984. The battalion's latest honor is the Presidential Unit Citation received for collective valor in combat after completing its mission in Iraq.
The 501st directives are to provide supplies and field services, ground maintenance, and medical operations. In that tradition, organizers for this fundraiser cleverly titled the cookbook "In the Kitchen with the Providers."
Recipes were collected from soldiers, family members, and VIPs within the military community. Funds generated from sales of the cookbooks have been used to purchase anything needed to support troops during deployment and activities for the unit families.
The goals of generating funds and, most importantly, creating a memento have been accomplished successfully. "We have sold the majority of the cookbooks back to the soldiers and families of the unit," Tracy added.
The 501st cookbook committee attributes success of the cookbooks to:
-
Selection of a cover which appealed to military and patriotic consumers
-
Publishing recipes from soldiers themselves, making this an ideal gift for those back home
-
Inclusion of military rank with recipe submitter names
-
Recipes from VIPs within the military community such as the Commanding General and Brigade Commander
-
Sharing history of the battalion within the personalized pages at the front of the book
"I own books created by Cookbook Publishers and they are wonderful! So personal yet so professional," Tracy added. "The staff is helpful and friendly, our product was more than we ever expected and was delivered as promised!"
